The Sounds of Silence

Haven't had much to talk about the last day or so. I'm very frustrated with my foot (plantar fasciitis). I have difficulty walking anywhere and am always in pain when I do so. It really puts a damper on anywhere I go so I've been staying inside mostly. I'm now wearing my Birkenstocks and will be getting my orthotics in a week so hopefully those will pay off. I kind of expected everything to go away once I started wearing the Birks but it hasn't worked out that way. I guess I need to realize that my foot is actually injured and needs time to heal, even with a world of arch and heel support. I wish this would go away soon.

I dunno if you've seen a physical therapist or not, but here's what I learned when I got bit by the fasciitis bug:

freeze a small water bottle, roll it from heel to toe for ten minutes, wait 10, rinse and repeat.

do a lot of foot stretches, both with leg outstretched and pulling the toe towards you with a towel, but also by sitting down, pointing into the ground with your big toe and gently leaning into it

Also, keep in mind that your arch supports are STRETCHING your foot's muscles and tendons and it is OK to give them a little recovery time once in a while...it's the same kind of advice as not working out too hard or you will pull something. Oh, and the Birks are likely to bother you until the cork forms to fit your foot...after that point you won't want to remove them though :)
